Australasia's Largest Global Sourcing Expo Launches Today

Announcement posted by International Sourcing Expo 15 Nov 2022

After a three year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, Australasia's biggest global sourcing expo for apparel, textiles and accessories opens today at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The International Sourcing Expo will see over 400 manufacturers and suppliers from more than 20 countries and regions around the globe including India, Turkey, South Africa, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Bangladesh connect with Australian retailers, buyers, designers and industry professionals in Australia and New Zealand.

Global Exhibition Director Julie Holt says the COVID pandemic and soaring travel costs meant Australian retailers were looking for alternative ways to source directly from manufacturers and suppliers from around the globe.

"The pandemic caused havoc with many retailers' supply chains and as a result many of them are now interested in exploring new markets. This, coupled with the fact that soaring costs are making travel prohibitive, means that an alternative sourcing solutions are much needed," says Julie.

"The International Sourcing Expo brings the world to Australian retailers providing a direct and immediate opportunity to source from over 400 manufacturers and suppliers from over 20 different countries and regions."

The Expo will also see industry heavy weights participate in the highly anticipated Global Sourcing Seminar Series.

Rosanna Iacono, Associate Strategy & Foresight Analyst at one of the world's most renowned futures consultancies, the Future Laboratory, will present the organisation's much anticipated Macro Trend for 2022, The Paralysis Paradox, for the first time in Australia.

The presentation will outline how retailers and brands can harness, what the Future Laboratory predicts will be, a 20-year cycle of unrivalled innovation and new market opportunities.

Rosanna will be joined by Paul Zahra, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Retailers Association who will discuss the ongoing state of disruption as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for retail.

Sustainability will also be a key focus of the Expo with many exhibitors showcasing new, environmentally friendly fabrics, textiles and manufacturing techniques and a number of compelling seminars focussed on sustainability.

The co-located Footwear & Leather Show Australia will showcase footwear and leather products from around the world, and provides the opportunity for visitors to connect, discover new trends in footwear and leather, be inspired by potential suppliers from new countries, and create business opportunities.

The 2019 Expo saw more than 4000 visits from large fashion retailers to start-up labels, including Peter Alexander, Myer, Kookai, Lincraft, Cotton On Group, Fila, Forever New, and Wittner, looking to make valuable connections with potential and existing suppliers.
