FRESH CRAYFISH or FISH AND CHIPS? TOO MANY TASTY OPTIONS FOR SEAFOOD LOVERS @ HURSEY SEAFOODS

Hursey’s fleet of red fishing boats is synonymous with Stanley in North West Tasmania. The Hursey’s run a large wholesale fish operation and a restaurant in Stanley with take-away and fresh fish sales.  The restaurant enjoys an iconic setting in Stanley, backing onto the Nut Reserve, with a large lobster on the roof and expansive picture windows, perfect for soaking up the sea views and historic sights of the old Stanley port.

The restaurant has undergone a dramatic restyling, ready for a bumper season. Patrons will also see a fresh new menu focusing on top quality local products and wild-caught seafood as well as a new wine list, a true “from our fleet to your plate” experience embracing sustainable fishing practices.

Dishes include the staples of fish n chips and seafood marinara as well as fish tacos, pan-seared Striped Trumpeter, and fresh Southern Rock Lobster (Tasmanian Crayfish) served with Stanley saltbush butter. Hursey’s crayfish are kept live in tanks so they are available fresh all year round. Children, vegetarians, and those craving non-seafood options are also well catered for.

The restaurant restyling emphasizes soft lighting and stunning moody décor to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in which to enjoy the fresh new menu on offer. Dramatic charcoal sets the scene for the sophisticated interior styling, with deep tones covering the ceilings and walls. There are quality modern and vintage coastal artworks mixed in with pieces from the family’s fishing history, think time-worn wooden oars, old port-holes, ships compass, old fishing charts.

The large ship’s wheel artfully arranged above the casual lounge area sets the scene for a coastal experience not to be missed.  The large space is sectioned off with creative partitions adorned with fishing ropes artfully tied by fishermen Steven and Mark Hursey.

Story boards and photographs leading into the restaurant share an important part of the Hursey family story. The dramatic and rugged fishing images on display were captured by Steven Hursey of TVs “Aussie Lobster Men” fame.

The Hursey family look forward to welcoming patrons to their new-look venue. Follow Hursey Seafoods on social media for updates. Bookings recommended on bookings@hurseyseafoods.com.au or ph. +61 3 6458 1103.
