Technology Venture Partners Appoints New Principal

Announcement posted by Technology Venture Partners 14 Mar 2002

Technology Venture Partners Pty Ltd (TVP), one of Australias largest independent venture capital (VC) firms, has appointed Mr Michael Zimmerman to the position of principal.

Mr Zimmerman joins TVP from Silicon Valley-based early stage VC firm, Altos Ventures, where he was responsible for sourcing new investments and working with portfolio companies in the application and infrastructure software sectors.

Mr Zimmermans involvement with technology start-ups began in 1997 with U.S. online financial services company, iOwn.com (formerly HomeShark.com), where he was vice president of corporate development. During Mr Zimmermans four-year involvement with iOwn.com, the company raised US$100 million in venture capital and grew from nine to 320 people, before being acquired by Citibank.

Mr Zimmermans U.S. VC and entrepreneurial experience will translate directly into his role at TVP, where he will be primarily responsible for evaluating new investment opportunities and assisting TVPs investees with business development and strategy.

Our portfolio companies will benefit enormously from Michaels hands-on experience - particularly his credentials and contacts in raising U.S. funding, competing in a crowded market and sustaining business growth through diversification, said Mr John Murray, executive director and founding shareholder with TVP.

Michaels addition to the TVP executive team will greatly enhance our ability to assist our investees to expand overseas and compete on a global scale.

Mr Zimmerman holds an MBA from Stanford University, and has also spent a number of years in investment banking and management consulting with Goldman Sachs and Bain & Company respectively.
