Fujitsu confirms commitment to Australian PABX market

Announcement posted by Fujitsu Australia Limited 05 Sep 2001

Mr John Kranenburg, Fujitsu Australias Executive Director, Telecommunications and Technology, confirmed the Companys commitment to the Australian PABX market today, despite Fujitsu withdrawing from the US PABX market.

It will have no impact on the Australasian market, said Mr Kranenburg.

Mr Kranenburg commented that Fujitsus technical standards in Australia and New Zealand are aligned with those in Europe, not the USA.

In 1997, we made a strategic decision to migrate to a European sourced platform, the Fujitsu Coral, which has continually evolved with new functionality and features since the time of its introduction.

Fujitsu Australias 1997 foresight to depart from its companys US-based global PABX strategy has proven beneficial to the local organisation. The severe US downturn has prompted many of Fujitsus US-based telecoms competitors to slash their R&D and operating budgets, impacting the products sold by their subsidiaries in Australia and New Zealand.
