Announcement posted by IPL Group 05 Aug 2006
Stead Denton, IT industry figure and CEO of the IPL Group has been named Eastern District category winner in the prestigious 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
Announcing Stead as the Technology, Communications, E-commerce & Life Sciences Award winner at a Gala Dinner in Sydney last night, the judges noted: Stead Denton has an impressive track record of building businesses and not being emotionally attached to them if an opportunity arises to on-sell. He is a true serial entrepreneur with the ability to bounce back in the face of adversity to become extremely successful. Stead continually reinvests in his business to maintain liquidity and finances business growth internally.
Stead Denton has been involved in founding and running successful businesses since he was 21. He is now the CEO of the IPL Group, one of the longest established and most successful distributors in Australia.
The Entrepreneur Of the Year program, is founded and produced by Ernst & Young and held in 40 different countries. 107 entrepreneurs are taking part in the 2006 awards nationally, with the Northern and Eastern district winners now announced. The national awards ceremony will take place in November.
The awards recognise successful and dynamic Australian business leaders for their entrepreneurial spirit and achievements. Independent judging panels drawn from a broad range of successful Australian businesses assess the entrepreneurs on their innovation, integrity, influence, strategic direction, and national or global impact.
The Australian Entrepreneur of the Year is invited to represent Australia at the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year event held annually in June in Monte Carlo. At this event, they will be competing against top entrepreneurs from 100 cities in more than 40 countries.
