Announcement posted by Mozo 17 Aug 2023
THURSDAY 17TH AUGUST 2023: The money experts at leading financial comparison site Mozo.com.au have today announced the ‘best of the best’ mobile and data plans in the 2023 Mozo Experts Choice Awards.
Mobile Plan Provider of the Year for 5G, Vodafone, offers the best value for money and has taken out five wins in 5G award categories. Kogan Mobile was the clear winner in 4G, even taking out two wins in one category for different plans, and has been aptly named Mobile Plan Provider of the Year for 4G.
“Generous data limits and the ability for families to share their data allowances was one of the features that stood out with Vodafone’s 5G plans” said AJ Duncanson Mozo Experts Choice Award Judge. “For Kogan Mobile, it was the excellent value for money offering on both short and long-term plans across 4G networks that helped them shine against the competition.”
The winners were chosen by Mozo’s expert judges after comparing 633 different plans from 49 telecom providers. TeleChoice, felix mobile, Belong, Optus and CMobile also took out multiple wins, offering exceptional value for money across mobile plans.
“With the cost of everyday items like groceries jumping by around 10-15% in just twelve months,” Duncanson continued, “consumers should be reviewing where they’re spending their money, to see if there’s an opportunity to cut costs.”
The expert analysis considered 633 prepaid and postpaid plans that all included unlimited calls and texts to standard Australian numbers. To ensure a like-for-like comparison, plans analysed were based on a standardised cost and data allowance model that accounted for short term pricing and introductory offers.
In order to award the Provider of the Year, Mozo experts looked for the provider with the highest number of award wins. As one provider (Vodafone) stood out in the 5G categories, and another (Kogan Mobile) stood out in the 4G categories, the decision was made to name a 4G Provider of the Year and a 5G Provider of the Year.

About the Mozo Experts Choice Awards
The Mozo Experts Choice Awards were established in 2014 to help Australian consumers find the best value offers across a range of products and services. For the 2023 Mobile Plan Awards, Mozo’s expert judges collected pricing and cover information from 633 plans across 49 different mobile plan providers (see methodology report). The information collection was conducted in June 2023. To be considered for inclusion all information considered must be readily available on the company’s website and the plans available to the general public. We aim to include most mobile plan providers in the market in the Mozo Experts Choice Awards.
