
[PRESS RELEASE] Launceston to host prestigious national Young Judges and Paraders Competition, and Rural Ambassador Award

Australia's most promising young agricultural judges and paraders will converge on Tasmania from Thursday, October 12 to Saturday, October 14 to compete in the finals of the National Young Judges And Paraders Competition. The winner of the 2023 Rural Ambassador Award will also be announced at a gala dinner on Friday, October 13.
Both Agricultural Shows Australia initiatives, the Young Judges and Paraders Competition brings together the best young judges and paraders aged from 15 to 25 in each state to compete at the national finals. Qualification is via success in competitive regional and state competitions. Overall there are nine categories for judging and parading each year under the Agricultural Shows Australia national competition program: beef cattle, dairy cattle, alpaca, poultry, Merino sheep, meat breed sheep and Merino fleece judging, as well as parading competitions in beef and dairy cattle.
One young judge from South Australia, Cody Jones, (pictured below) will be competing in an unprecedented four events; poultry, Merino fleece, Merino sheep, and meat sheep breeds.

The prestigious Rural Ambassador Award is open to young people aged between 20-30, with finalists representing each state. The award recognises the next generation of leaders who have a strong
commitment to agricultural industries.
The national championships are held in a different location each year. This year, the event is being hosted by Tasmanian Ag Shows and held at the Launceston Royal Show.
