Cayla George becomes the All Time WNBL Rebounds Leader. Tess Madgen returns. Spirit win against Sydney Flames

WNBL Round 4 - Results

Summary
Just like that, for the first time this season, the Bendigo Spirit have secured and smashed their very first WNBL win for the season at Red Energy Arena in Bendigo against the Sydney Flames with the final score 82-66. 

 

With the atmosphere filled with adrenaline, Kennedy Kereama in his 100th WNBL game as head coach of the Spirit lead the girls to a well-deserved victory, as the star player of the game Casey Samuels highlighted just how determined the Spirit were to take home that win!

 

With the on-going pressure and performance by the Sydney Flames, the Spirit's win didn't come with ease as they were met with an incredible match up and long-awaited debut of Australian Opals captain Tess Madgen to the Sydney Flames. Her come-back and presence on the court didn't go un-noticed, as she fired up with the support from the WNBL community as we welcome her to the 2023/24 season.

 

To top it all off, Saturday's game has been left with records broken as Cayla George from the Sydney Flames smashed out 8 rebounds in the first quarter, landing her the well-earned title and achievement of the All Time WNBL Rebounds Leader! She dominated the floor from the get-go, and finished the game with 13 rebounds.
