Intel teach to the future program receives formal accreditation from Deakin University

Course to count as credit towards teacher postgraduate study in Victoria
Intel Corporation today announced that the Intel Teach to the Future program has received formal accreditation from Deakin University, allowing teachers that complete the program and undertake assessment tasks to receive credit toward postgraduate study.
The formal accreditation of the Intel Teach to the Future program gives recognition to the importance of integrating technology into the classroom curriculum to improve student learning, creativity and achievement," said Annett Gough, director of the Faculty of Educations consultancy and development unit at Deakin University. The program will provide our teachers with the theoretical frameworks and practical components to teach the leaders of tomorrow.
Launched in Australia in mid-2004, the Intel Teach to the Future program is designed to improve teaching and learning through the effective use of technology. Through course materials, teachers learn from each other on how, when and where to incorporate technology tools and resources into their lesson plans. The aim is to help students develop the higher-order thinking skills needed to succeed in a knowledge-based economy. By the end of the year, more than 2,000 teachers from over 100 Australian government schools will be using technology to motivate and engage students following completion of the Intel Teach to the Future program.
In Victoria, the program sits within the Framework for Accredited Teacher Professional Development, a statewide framework for the delivery and formal recognition of teacher professional development formed through an agreement between the Department of Education and the Deans of Education in Victoria. As a result of its accreditation by Deakin University, the program is now recognised by all Victorian universities for credit under thisframework and may be accepted as prior learning in other Australian states and territories.

The Intel Teach to the Future program is a worldwide initiative designed to improve teaching and learning through the effective use of technology. To date, more than 1.8 million teachers in more than 30 countries have completed the Intel Teach to the Future program.
