Just in time for the summer, we are observing a lip filler trend called 'butterfly lips'. Mimicking the shape of a butterfly's wings, this is the latest trend in lip filler that creates the perfect lip shape by defining the cupid's bow.  This achieved by plumping with filler to add height, making the bow shape more prominent.

How is the butterfly lip achieved?

"It's quite a complicated procedure that takes a few weeks to achieve, but patients find them worth while because they find the results aesthetically pleasing. It appears to be an evolution of the Russian lip technique," Dr Eranki said.

"The look appears to involve elevating the lips and then providing a plumping effect using dermal filler to over-emphasise the Cupid's bow. It's called 'butterfly lips' as the resulting effect is a volumised, slight separation of the top lip, mirroring the appearance of a butterfly's wing.

"What happens is, your injector will insert vertical injections of lip fillers into your lips to add height and define the cupid's bow, as is done with the Russian technique. However, it doesn't just stop there.
