Philips Speech Processing SELECTS INTELS Graphical VOS 7.0 toolkit

Announcement posted by Intel 18 Apr 2001

Dialogic, an Intel company, today announced that it will deliver its parity brand graphical VOS Toolkit for SpeechPearl, a speech recognition engine from Philips Speech Processing, a business unit of Philips Electronics. Developers who use SpeechPearl and Graphical VOS 7.0 to build speech-enabled computer telephony systems will now be able to incorporate SpeechPearl functions directly from applications built with the toolkit. The integration of native support for the SpeechPearl engine will enable more rapid development and deployment of speech enabled applications such as voice portals, voice-enabled helpdesks, auto attendants and personal phone books.

Intel already markets a version of graphical VOS that is integrated with Philips SpeechWave DSP-based software, said Eamonn Kearns, Director, Market Development of Intels Communications Products Group in Australia. Augmenting the graphical VOS toolkit with native support for speech recognition will give our customers a wider range of applications and options, he added.

Philips SpeechPearl also uses new Dialogic continuous speech processing (CSP) technology, which allows callers to speak before prompts are finished, thereby creating a more natural and useable interface. Using Dialogic CSP technology, Philips is able to provide customers a speech recognition solution with maximum flexibility, scalability and density at lower cost using single-board solutions.

Philips has customers currently using Dialogic telephony boards and Parity brand Graphical VOS toolkit who also want to use our SpeechPearl engine, said Dr. Bernd Voelpel for Philips Speech Processing, Asia-Pacific. This integration of support gives Dialogic and Philips customers an easier way to build computer telephony systems with advanced speech recognition technology.

Additionally, the SpeechPearl product family includes the SpeechPath client-server architecture, which adds scalability to both small and large systems. SpeechPearl supports open grammars so that callers can speak naturallywith all the hesitations, mistakes and corrections; and filler words common in everyday speech.

Dialogics Parity brand Graphical VOS software is a rapid application development tool for mission-critical telephony systems. Graphical VOS provides a high-performance, robust engine, together with a wide range of supported telephony technologies, user-friendly tools and an easily learned language.
