Integrated Research connects with HP on Belgacoms converged networks

Announcement posted by Integrated Research 21 Jun 2006

Launching PROGNOSIS Smart Link Integration for HP OpenView with first customer
HP has partnered with Integrated Research (ASX:IRI) to give Belgacom, Belgiums largest telecommunications and managed service provider, total insight into both their own and their customers converged IP telephony and data networks. Belgacom is Integrated Researchs first customer for its new PROGNOSIS IP Telephony Smart Link Integration for HP OpenView.
PROGNOSIS provides the interface between HPs Network Node Manager and Cisco Unified Communications through its HP OpenView Certified Smartlink. Nathan Brumby, general manager, IP telephony business for Integrated Research said, PROGNOSIS delivers real-time system and application monitoring of the converged voice and data network by providing the link between HPs leading data network management system and Cisco Unified Communications. This integration, combined with our increasing partnership with HP, provides an exciting new channel to market for PROGNOSIS with HP OpenView users globally."
Christophe Verneirt, project manager for Belgacom said, PROGNOSIS was the essential piece in the IP telephony management puzzle. We now have an end-to-end solution that gives our Network Node Manager operators visibility into IP telephony. Over 100 different health and performance conditions are being monitored in real time, we receive instant alerts, and we have the ability to drill down for root-cause analysis and speedier problem resolution.
According to Garry Ovenell, Integrated Research IP telephony business manager Europe, Belgacom wanted to leverage their investment by integrating IP telephony into their HP OpenView management system. They wanted to enable their HP Network Node Manager to monitor Cisco Unified Communications, and they wanted it without having to change their NOC processes, without the need to retrain staff, and without any additional overhead. Not only that, they wanted real-time alerting and specific tools for root-cause analysis and problem resolution.
Belgacom also required the Smart Link to overcome the issue of overlapping address domains, where two or more clients use the same private IP address sequence, and results in Belgacom monitoring identical addresses in different client locations. The need to instantly establish which of the duplicate addresses, and which client was experiencing an error was crucial to meeting service level agreements.
Integrated Research is an HP OpenView Platinum Business Partner and part of the HP Enterprise Management Alliance. PROGNOSIS IP Telephony Smart Link Integration for HP OpenView was tested in HPs OpenView lab and has been awarded HP OpenView Smartlink certification. Brumby said, PROGNOSIS has an unmatched reputation for delivering real-time system and application monitoring in IP telephony while HPs reputation for data management systems is unrivalled. Our individual proficiencies complement each other, and when combined, form a conduit for the strong alliance and strengthening business partnership.
