Humorous, eclectic and beautifully crafted, the 22 stories in this collection encompass the fantastic and the real, the dystopian and the sublime, the playful and the sombre.

'Unpredictable, imaginative and shot through with humour, We will live and then we will see is the work of a versatile and very talented writer' - RYAN O'NEILL, Miles Franklin short-listed author.

A truck breaks down in an outback town. A daughter travels to Japan to give away his father's flute. A retired Russian coal miner sells his most valued possession. An aspiring author rages at his publisher. Two Finnish tourists take on the Guatemalan jungle. A Sudanese refugee recounts his harrowing journey to Australia - these are stories that will take you around the world and through every emotion.

'Ideas for stories are everywhere, if you're looking for them. Stories in the collection have come from news articles, things I experienced directly, others from things people told me - but all put through a fictional blender. I've also worked in all kinds of jobs: pizza delivery, police line-up person, casino croupier, bushland regenerator, printer ribbon salesman, so that helps.

I think the thing that binds the collection together is humour. I find the whole rigmarole of life is richly comic, and realising that helps you not to take things too seriously. Reading humourless writing is like being punched in the face with a concrete block. It is not fun to start with, and then gets increasingly painful.' Warwick Sprawson

Book publisher Norman Charles says, 'It's been fun working with Warwick, he's a quirky guy, done all kind of things, and has nice hair. The 22 stories in the collection represent his best work of the last 15 years, with most stories either winning prizes or been published in local or international literary magazines.'
