LEADING EARLY LEARNING GROUP EXPANDS FOOTPRINT IN CAIRNS

Announcement posted by Edge Early Learning 08 Apr 2024

One of Queensland’s leading early learning groups, Edge Early Learning, is expanding its footprint within the Cairns region, poised and ready to offer quality education and care for up to 270 children by late 2024.

Following the success of the recently acquired centre in the developing suburb of Woree, Edge Early Learning is set to bring two new purpose-built centres to the region by the end of the year, located in Edmonton and Gordonvale.

The expansion of one of Australia's fastest growing early learning groups will help offset the growing demand for quality care and education within the Cairns region, delivering an enriching early learning environment, housed within its state-of-the-art centres.

"Since 2017 we have built a reputable educational practice in the early learning space across south east Queensland, South Australia and the ACT, while looking to enhance our footprint north and into the Cairns region," Edge Early Learning CEO Annie Bryce said.

"Our expansion plans are in line with the ever-increasing demand that parents have for their children to have access to safe and inspiring environments, where little ones can create meaning about the world around them and develop a lifelong love of learning, all while fostering relationships with their educators and peers."

The first Edge Early Learning centre opened in July 2023 at Woree and caters for up to 75 children per day. It is located on Charlotte Close, conveniently situated across the road from the Southside Shopping Village and only three minutes from local schools, Saint Mary's and Woree State School.

The centre features five spacious, modern age-specific rooms including nursery, toddler, junior kindy, pre-kindy and kindy, and outdoor play areas are equipped with sandpits, water play areas, swings, a pergola, veggie gardens, and quiet areas to relax.

"We've seen strong demand from local families at our Woree centre who are seeking early learning environments that both support the needs of the community, offer added convenience for parents, and who are committed to delivering an exceptional early learning experience for their children."

While the new Edmonton centre is already in development and set to open mid-year on Walker Road, Edge's Gordonvale centre will be located on Draper Road and is due to open in late 2024.

With all three centres located within a 20-minute radius, once all locations are open, Edge will be in a position to offer quality education and care for up to 270 children per day aged 6-weeks to school age within the area and provide 65job opportunities for the local community.

Centres will feature spacious age specific learning spaces with modern resources, large outdoor environments with fun and relaxing play areas, vegetable gardens, undercover courtyards, easily accessible carparks, kitchens with in-house chefs catering to all dietary requirements, and much more.

Edge Early Learning's educational programs follow an inquiry-based approach, supporting and enhancing learning milestones and journeys across all areas of development through its four pillars, education, wellbeing, relationships, and sustainability.

Utilising the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework to guide their pedagogy and practice, Edge's early learning programs include the areas of identity, connectedness, wellbeing, active learning, and communication.

Edge also maintains strong and established connections to local schools as part of their School Readiness Program, helping Kindergarten children transition to primary school.

In addition to quality early education, Edge is leading the way by offering mindfulness activities such as yoga and incorporating sustainable practices such as utilising bamboo nappies and wipes, sunscreen, and environmentally friendly cleaning products. As well as providing daily meals made by in-house chefs who cater to all dietary requirements, all included in the daily fee.

With opening hours from 6.00am to 6.00pm from Monday to Friday, the Woree centre offers extended operation times to best suit parents and carers and enables them to get the most out of the allocated subsided hours per fortnight.

With the backing of a strong team of passionate and qualified early childhood educators, Edge is seeking more passionate professionals to join their growing team. To register interest in a career at Edge Early Learning, visit the Careers Page: www.edgeearlylearning.com.au/careers/
