Southern Cross Logistics chooses Mid-Comp’s Stockman

Announcement posted by Mid-Comp International 18 Jul 2008

Fast-expanding third party logistics company Southern Cross Logistics (SCL) has chosen Stockman, from Australian company Mid-Comp International, as the business software platform on which to launch aggressive growth plans.

After rapid expansion in recent years, SCL’s systems were straining to keep up with, let alone cater for, the company’s ambitious plans for the next 24 months.  Stockman is the small to medium enterprise (SME) version of Mid-Comp’s Odyssey product, a 21st century ERP for Distribution software application suite.

Stockman’s seamless migration path to the corporate level Odyssey enterprise solution suite, fully protects SCL’s investment.  Mid-Comp CEO Steve Bridges says it is suitable for SME importers, exporters, wholesale distributors, 3PLs and retail store networks that have outgrown their current systems but cannot justify the cost and complexity leap to a corporate ERP.

Designed to comply with retail trading standards including EANway Scan Pack and advanced EDI to meet the e-Trading and track & trace demands of major retail chains, Stockman streamline the entire distribution process.

“Low cost of ownership was extremely attractive to us,” says Tony Riley, Managing Director, Southern Cross Logistics. “It appears that Stockman can handle all the weird and wonderful inventory requirements variations that come with providing third party logistics services to such a diverse range of clients. Couple that with the fact that Mid-Comp’s people aim to have us performing full blown EANway Scan Pack and EDI trading with K-Mart for one of our major clients within six weeks of signing on the dotted line ... an ambitious timeframe … we’re definitely moving in the right direction.”

Stockman is a fully integrated advanced distribution and accounting system that focuses on real-time supply chain efficiency.  Built specifically to run on the web, Stockman provides true integration between all elements of the supply chain.  Using a standard web browser, users can perform any function from anywhere there is internet access.

“Our clients have complete visibility of their inventory simply by logging in to our system via the web,” said Riley.  “They can also validate all activities being performed on their behalf, right down to product movements at unit level.  Our ability to offer this degree of participation promotes client confidence, and demonstrates what can be accomplished by using a system that encourages true trading partner relationships.”
