Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group launches new digital patient pathways for endoscopy patients
Announcement posted by Personify Care 13 Aug 2024
Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group (FSFHG) is expanding its use of Personify Care's Digital Patient Pathways to its Endoscopy and Gastroscopy units while simultaneously going live with a two-way integration with BOSSnet (Digital Medical Record) and WebPAS (Patient Administration System).
This growth comes after the success of digitising the patient experience for LifeFit SurgFit program for a more efficient and streamlined approach to pre-habilitation patient care.
The two-way integration means that patients are automatically invited onto their SurgFit pathway via the integration with WebPAS and information provided by the patient as part of the pathway is automatically uploaded into their digital record in BOSSnet.

FSFHG Consultant Anaesthetist, Dr Scott Sargant, shared how transitioning to a new digital platform for their colonoscopy and gastroscopy patient pathways impacted the staff and patient experience.
"Even in the first weeks, our clinical staff have found the new pathways have dramatically reduced their time spent on routine tasks so they can concentrate their efforts on helping the patients that need that little bit more support," Scott said.
"They have found it easy to learn and adapt to and team wide visibility of patient progress has improved both impact and efficiency.
Patients too are finding it really helpful and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Being able to proactively communicate with patients and answer questions in an efficient manner, for both patients and staff, is incredible.
We are already starting to see improvements in our day of surgery cancellation rates and patient preparation for their [PC1] procedures."
The benefits of the new digital pathways are being quantified across a range of metrics, including reduced staff time spent on patient screening, early detection of clinical risks, patient satisfaction and engagement rates as well as decreased cancellation rates wait times.
South Metropolitan Health Service Executive Director - Transformation, Tim Leen, said the two way interoperability of digital patient pathways with our hospital systems represented a groundbreaking step forward in our public health service.
"It means that our clinicians can access patient reported data within the digital patient in a timely way. Ultimately this is all about the patient, their safety and marking sure our clinicians can focus their attention on high value clinical care," Tim said.
This two-way integration empowers clinicians to automatically invite patients onto personalised pathways via the integration with WebPAS and patient data collected via the digital patient pathways to be uploaded into the BOSSnet digital patient record across different hospital sites - allowing clinicians access to up to date patient health information directly from the digital patient record.
