Announcement posted by Australian Compliance Institute 13 Sep 2024
[Melbourne, 13 September 2024] The Australian Compliance Institute (ACI) will hold its 2024 annual
conference on Tuesday, 17 September, simultaneously in three locations, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, plus online, enabling speakers and delegates from all over the country and overseas to participate.
Titled "Building the Future for Compliance Professionals" the conference will look at the key issues impacting the industry, including the current role of compliance in Australian business; how ethics, culture and accountability impact organisational compliance; prioritising issues when managing third party risks; perspectives from the regulator; and managing privacy risk in a technology revolution, among others.
The first keynote presentation will be given by Professor Allan Fels AO, Melbourne and Monash Universities. Professor Fels gave the opening keynote for the ACI 28 years ago and, at that time, gave the clarion call to the compliance community to make a difference. He will be addressing the community once again to discuss how the role of compliance has evolved over the past nearly 30 years.
Other keynote speakers include Joe Longo, ASIC Chair and Simon Longstaff AO, Executive Director of The Ethics Centre; Rajat Saigal, Partner Strategy, Risk and Transactions at Deloitte; Peter Kell, Regulatory Consultant and former ASIC and ACCC Commissioner; and Sinead Lynch, Partner at Gadens, among others. Neary 30 more experts will also be addressing the conference as part of panel discussions and presentations.
"I am delighted by the calibre of speakers at this year's event and the huge interest from delegates," says Annette Donselaar, ACI Chair and Life Member. "The industry as a whole faces several challenges which we will address during the conference including lax corporate accountability, talent shortage and emerging risks through the engaging third parties in an ever complex regulatory landscape. We look forward to exploring ideas and solutions on this range of issues."
During the conference the annual ACI awards will be presented. Since 2002, the Australian Compliance Institute has been recognising outstanding contributions and achievements within its community. This year, the ACI will be presenting a Life Member Award, the Compliance Professional of the Year Award and the Compliance Professional Team of the Year Award, together with academic excellence awards for the top student in each of the ACI accredited compliance, risk and anti-money laundering qualifications.
This year's conference is being sponsored by Deloitte as a Host and Platinum sponsor, and by Diligent as a Diamond Sponsor. We are also pleased to welcome a number of exhibitors and thank them for their support.
