What: An exclusive charity fashion gala to raise funds for RizeUp Australia, showcasing a powerful message of empowerment through fashion with a runway by leading designers.

When: Saturday, September 21, 2024, 6:30 PM

Where: W Sydney, 31 Wheat Rd, Sydney NSW 2000

Why: To raise awareness and critical funds for domestic violence victims and survivors, while highlighting the role fashion plays in empowering confidence and resilience.

RizeUp Australia is a charity focused on providing practical assistance to families affected by domestic and family violence. As their Ambassador, Ali Daddo will share insights into her work with the organization and how their services are providing lifelines to those in need.

Joining Ali is Jasmine Stringer, reigning Miss World Australia and AFF Ambassador, who will deliver a keynote address focusing on her advocacy for women's rights and her mission to inspire hope and action through the AFF and her platform.

The tragic reality of domestic violence in Australia continues, with one in four women experiencing violence by a current or former intimate partner. This includes devastating impacts on Indigenous communities, where Aboriginal women are 32 times more likely to be hospitalized due to family violence than non-Aboriginal women. In recognition of this, Ashlee Donohue, an author, educator, and advocate for anti-violence, anti-racism, and Aboriginal women's rights, will deliver a heartfelt victim impact statement.

The Australian Fashion Federation aims to use fashion as a voice for social change, demonstrating how confidence and empowerment through the runway mirror life's ability to continue after adversity. Through this gala, AFF seeks to raise funds and awareness to support the critical work being done to break the cycle of domestic violence.
