The Townsville Fire had a fiery comeback to overcome the Adelaide Lightning

Announcement posted by Basketball Australia 23 Nov 2024

24/25 WNBL Season - Round 4

Summary

The Townsville Fire had what could be one of the best comebacks of the season and it's only Round 4. The Fire came from 20 points down at halftime and went on a 33 point run in the second half to secure the win over the Adelaide Lightning.

Courtney Woods was the spark that ignited the Fire's comeback, with a massive second half performance finishing with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Alex Fowler was valuable off the bench with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Adelaide's Japreece Dean led from the front with 9 points, whilst Brianna Turner and Steph Talbot were huge in the paint for the Lightning tonight with 12 and 9 rebounds respectively.

Despite a slow start, Townsville would be happy with their second half performance especially keeping Adelaide to only 7 points in the second half. Adelaide would be disappointed to let this game get away from them after their dominant first half,
