24/25 WNBL Season - Round 5

Game Summary

Sydney returned to form in Round 5, delivering a commanding performance to secure a decisive victory over Geelong in their first game outside Victoria. After a tough road trip in Round 4 with losses to Adelaide and Perth, Sydney bounced back with a dominant showing on both ends of the court.

The game began with a defensive grind, as both teams traded possessions in a fast-paced but low-scoring first quarter. However, from the five-minute mark, Sydney took control. A late-quarter surge saw them close the opening period on a strong run, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Shaneice Swain was the standout player, putting on a clinic with 18 points by halftime, including a remarkable 5/8 from beyond the arc. She finished the game with an impressive stat line of 25 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals, leading Sydney's relentless attack.

The third quarter was a game-changer, as Sydney outscored Geelong 25-5, effectively putting the result beyond doubt. Geelong struggled to find answers, despite a gritty performance from Keely Froling, who tallied a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

In the end, Sydney's balanced attack and defensive intensity proved too much for Geelong, showcasing their ability to bounce back and dominate after a challenging stretch on the road.
