Perth Lynx hold on to secure the win against the Southside Flyers

24/25 WNBL Season - Round 5

Game Summary

A tight tussle at the State Basketball Centre as the Perth Lynx get their fifth win in a row over the Southside Flyers. With 11 lead changes throughout the game, last year's Grand Final Rematch proved to be a killer. Southside were without two key players, Carley Ernst and Alice Kunek, but fought hard to match up against a red-hot Lynx.

Leading the way for the Flyers was Bec Cole with 22 points and 7 rebounds while Maddi Rocci also made her return to the side, scoring 19 points with 3 steals. Despite the smaller lineup, Southside managed to take it to the Lynx, with a better 3-point percentage of 50% compared to 40%, which has been key to the Lynx game thus far this season.

However, the homework was done well by the Perth Lynx who were able to read the Flyers play consistently. Ally Wilson and Laeticia Amihere were instrumental in defence, combining for 7 steals and 7 blocks. While Miela Sowah led the charge with points, scoring herself 23 and 5 rebounds.

A closer game to what was expected but Perth remained strong and continued to prove why they're one of the strongest teams in the competition, while Southside look to bounce back to remain in touch with the top 4.
