You don't have to be clued up on everything finance to know that Cryptocurrency has been on a wild ride this year. It was only over the last few days that Bitcoin hit a milestone in its journey, having surpassed a record high of over 100,000 dollars. And although Bitcoin is on a surge and affecting businesses positively worldwide, it'altcoins that have been following suit and making their marks. Why?
Ever since the news broke in the White House last month about President Trump's reelection, the world of digital assets has surged (solely because of his future pledges). Now we aren't going to get into the nitty-gritty of all things tax and Trump, but we are going to explore why altcoins are having their moment.
With the US starting to be dubbed as the "crypto capital of the world," there's more fuel being added to the fire as to how far the crypto growth really is going to go. The best bit for us is that investors are buzzing with excitement, hoping for their portfolios to grow and their businesses to prosper. Because of this news, we're going to explore all that there is to know about Altcoins and why the crypto community is truly optimistic about its growth. From being widely accepted, to doubling in its values, we're going to take a look at the trends and predictions for 2025.
What is an Altcoin?
In the crypto world, Altcoins are generally anything other than Bitcoin and Ethereum — the most mainstream coins. The name of it derives from the two words "alternative" and "coin", and it belongs to the blockchain for which they were designed, although some developers believe it derives from Bitcoin itself. Now we aren't here to get into all the technical malarkey, but we are explaining what they are and what they do. Think of altcoins as the adventurous cousins of Bitcoin, that ever so slightly stays a little bit behind. Until now.
Altcoins are on the up, bringing something new and exciting to the table. They were created to improve upon Bitcoin's perceived limitations and offer unique functionalities of the renowned coins.
They cover some of the largest growing coins on the crypto market, and also cover "meme coins". These are the class clowns of crypto but are not to be underestimated. Coins such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu started as jokes and have now gained serious popularity and value, proving to the finance world that humor and memes can go a long way. So, in that instance, let's take a look at the predictions for 2025 - and which industries will be adopting these newfound "funner" coins.
1. Online poker casinos
With the rise of online crypto casinos comes an abundance of options to pay with - so we're almost certain that online casinos will soon start to accept altcoins (if they don't already). The majority of the casinos at the moment already do accept Bitcoin and Ethereum, however, with Dogecoin now worth $0.41 (as of the 12th of December), instead of the measly few cents only six months ago - we're all waiting to see what it will do next.
Online casinos are trailblazers in evolution, and cryptocurrencies have contributed to a large amount of that transformation. The best part about online crypto poker casinos is that they offer the convenience, security, and anonymity that digital currencies are known for, so 2025 is going to keep pushing these boundaries further.
Think bitcoin casinos, new experiences, and blockchain-based games that let you profit on your digital assets - whilst growing your portfolio wider.
2. Finance and banking
Finance and banking were the first industries to not only create but adopt cryptocurrency - so you can bet that altcoins are on its radar. They were the first adopters of digital coins when others weren't so sure, so we're seeing 2025 with newfound growth for crypto. Traditional banks will start to integrate blockchain technology for their transaction speeds and security - whilst also offering up ways to buy and sell assets of all kinds through their apps. The finance and banking world are also all set on integrating Stablecoins, which are pegged to the value of a flat currency, without any worries of volatility. From adding new digital wallets in traditional banks to learning to invest via crypto - 2025 has big growth plans, and we can't wait to see if they unfold.
3. Retail
Last but by no means least is an industry that we've seen grab Crypto by the horns this year. Retail and eCommerce are also at the forefront of crypto adoption, but it's only been the staple coins such as Bitcoin or Ethereum that have been integrated thus far. This trend is going to grow huge for next year, with more businesses beginning to adopt altcoins as much as the bigger named ones. Dogecoin and Litecoin are some on the radar that are cropping up, making them great coins for retailers to accept in exchange for goods. As these coins keep growing, so will their worth - making them stable investments for those looking to turn into a more digital-focused wallet.
As we head into 2025, we can't not be excited for the future of our technological growth. We're about to hit our biggest year of financial evolution yet, and businesses need to prepare to adapt or get left behind. What trends are you predicting for 2025? Whatever they are, make sure to add altcoins to your radar.
