24/25 WNBL Season - Round 11

Game Summary

The Townsville Fire and the Southside Flyers match up again after only seeing each other last Saturday where Abbey Ellis scored the game-winning three. The Flyers were out for revenge, leading at the half-time break, but couldn't maintain the lead. The Fire then came out with ferocity in the second half, which ultimately brought them the win.

Saffron Shiels was instrumental in setting up the match for the Fire in the third quarter. While Lauren Cox was the star of the show, finishing with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.

As for the Flyers, Naz Hillmon again shone with another double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds, adding to her ever-growing tally. While Alice Kunek reached 3000 career WNBL points. To rub more salt in the wound, Bec Cole also suffered from a lower limb injury during the game.

On a lighter note, Kylie Voevodin refereed her 200th WNBL game, becoming only the third referee to reach this milestone.

It was a scrappy game in the first half, but the turnaround from the Fire in the second half led them to their victory on a hot and humid Townsville night.
