Following his first PSA advertisement on nuclear energy last year in July, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dick Smith is back on the campaign trail, this time drawing attention to the AU$6.5 trillion dollar estimate it would take to store the Tesla batteries required to power the country for a day and a half.

"An energy plan based on experimental modelling by the CSIRO for the future of Australia is setting the country up for skyrocketing power bills the likes of which we have never seen before; the assertion that bills will come down is an impossibility," Smith said.

Smith's PSA reiterates that over 30 countries already rely on nuclear power for cost-effective, reliable energy, with more than 60 nuclear reactors currently being built. No other country has or is planning to operate their energy system entirely on wind, solar and storage.

"The Albanese Government needs to look more clearly at its' cost-modelling, because what is being proposed is simply not feasible."
