Townsville Fire continue their hot form against Geelong United

Announcement posted by Basketball Australia 25 Jan 2025

24/25 WNBL Season - Round 13

Game Summary

The Townsville Fire proved too strong against Geelong United as they sprint towards finals. It was a highly contested game of basketball, with both teams bringing the heat.

There were big contributions across the Townsville Fire team, with five players scoring in double figures. Lauren Cox was the main contributor with 26 points. Three players also came away with a double-double; Courtney Woods, Alicia Froling and Nia Coffey.

As for Geelong, it wasn't an entirely bad game, their inability to capitalise on scoring opportunities was the letdown in the end. Three players posted in double figures, Jaz Shelley leading with 19 points. An honourable mention to Alex Sharp who finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

The Fire have already booked their finals ticket, but this loss for Geelong could be the difference between claiming that fourth spot and missing the finals. This loss saw United drop from fourth to sixth after of Round 13, with only three more rounds left of the 24/25 WNBL regular season.
