With the debate about Australia's future power continuing to gain momentum, an unexpected specialist - nuclear engineer and 2023 Miss America Grace Stanke- is set to headline a series of events across Australia featuring nuclear energy experts to continue the debate commencing from January 29th, 2025, in Perth.

As a clean energy advocate, Grace seeks to improve public perception surrounding nuclear science through policy work and public engagements with politicians and individuals across the globe. She has appeared on Forbes' list of most influential energy experts under 30 and has been named by the Wall Street Journal in 2023 as, 'the new face of nuclear energy.' 

"I'm looking forward to offering my experience as a nuclear engineer to educate the general public about nuclear energy and its potential future applications in Australia," Ms Stanke said, adding that she was very surprised to learn that nuclear energy is banned here, when in the U.S it has bipartisan support. 

"Nuclear power has zero emissions, is reliable, safe, and far more cost effective than any other energy source," she said.

The tour will include talks in major cities, a parliamentary briefing, and has been organised by 18-year-old Nuclear for Australia founder Will Shackel to help bridge the current divide between men and women for nuclear energy - statistics show that 51% of men are for nuclear energy, compared with just 21% of women surveyed. *

Nuclear for Australia is now the largest nuclear advocacy organisation in Australia, and Will has continued his personal advocacy which has included providing evidence to a Senate Committee in Canberra, visiting COP28 where he interviewed Emmanuel Macron and frequent media appearances including on Sunrise, A Current Affair and Q+A. 

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Dick Smith will support the tour as patron of Nuclear for Australia, having made headlines last year for his strong support for nuclear energy in Australia, citing reasons such as the high cost of batteries that run solar and wind harvesting plants, along with the huge cost of battery storage.

"The idea that Australians will be better off relying on renewables to lessen their bills is not supported by the evidence," Smith asserts.

"No other country has or is planning to operate their energy system entirely on wind, solar and storage, nor is it possible for a typical Australian household to go fully renewable because of the unaffordably high battery costs involved."
