24/25 WNBL Season - Round 14

Game Summary

With the end of the season closing in, every game is crucial especially for Geelong United as they look to claim a finals spot in their inaugural season. Geelong came into the game understanding the assignment as they took it to the ladder leaders, the Bendigo Spirit in the first quarter, leading by one point at the first break.

Bendigo were quick to respond though, playing as the Bendigo we all know in the second quarter, outscoring Geelong by 8 points. Despite this, Geelong never let the game get away from them, as they stuck with Bendigo for 3 quarters in an impressive team basketball display.

Sami Whitcomb and Veronica Burton were instrumental in Bendigo's fight to claim victory finishing with 20 points and 17 points respectively. Despite Spirit key player, Mariana Tolo only playing 15 minutes due to foul trouble, her impact was still felt on the game as she finished with 11 points.

Haley Jones was the shining light for Geelong, putting in an impressive performance on both ends of the court. She finished with 23 points and a huge 10 rebounds.

This loss will hurt Geelong as they continue to fight for a finals spot. However with the weeks counting down, time is ticking for the Geelong squad.
