Game Summary
It was a game that was close in the first half, before Canberra ran away with the lead in the second half making a Geelong comeback a difficult task. It was a physical game between the two sides as the game get more crucial leading into finals. Neither team could break away in the first half as it was a performance of grit and physicality from all players.
Canberra were able to take control over the game after halftime, as they took advantage of the undermanned Geelong unit, outscoring their opponents 24-13 in the third quarter. Despite a late surge from Geelong in the fourth, it was a little too late, as the deficit was too great leading Canberra to comfortably take a 14 point victory at the final buzzer.
Jade Melbourne and Charli Collier led the way for the Capitals with 17 points and 23 points respectively. The always reliable Nicole Munger played her role adding 14 points whilst Nyadiew Puoch contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds.
With several key players out, Hannah Hank stepped up for Geelong finishing with an impressive 19 points and a huge count of 12 rebounds. Alex Sharp showed her leadership leading the way for Geelong with 23 points and 8 rebounds.
