The Townsville Fire overheat the Sydney Flames

Announcement posted by Basketball Australia 12 Feb 2025

24/25 WNBL Season - Round 16

Game Summary

The Townsville Fire put out a dominant display against the Sydney Flames. The Flames were again undersized, playing without Cayla George and Yemiyah Morris, which proved to be where they struggled. The Fire shot at 43% from the field, contributing to their win, while Sydney lacked offensive power.

Celeste Taylor was a shining light for the Flames finishing with 14 points, but couldn't do it on her own. It was a very low-scoring night for Sydney, but they look ahead towards their final game of the season against the Southside Flyers on Saturday.

Abbey Ellis was strong for the Fire, scoring 16 points with 3 assists and 2 steals. Alex Fowler also put on a dominant performance with 13 points and 8 rebounds. The Fire now move on to a spicy match-up against the Perth Lynx, where both teams will battle it off for the second spot.
