Announcement posted by Influencing 14 Feb 2025
The 23rd annual Samsung Australian IT Journalism Awards were officially launched by Influencing CEO Phil Sim last night, with Livecast partner Cisco playing host at their Meraki offices in Kent Street to around 50 tech journalists and industry experts.
The evening featured the launch of the 2025 awards (for content created in 2024), the announcement of the new Best Science Journalism category, and remarks from Cisco's Chief Technology Officer Carl Solder, who identified AI preparedness, future work spaces and digital resilience as key areas of interest in 2025.
Launching the new Science Journalism Award, SJAA President Jackson Ryan spoke to the importance of good science coverage and a robust tech & science journalism community. "Science and technology go hand in hand, so it makes perfect sense we have a Science Journalism award at the IT Journalism awards," said Jackson. "I'm thrilled that we're able to recognise and celebrate the nation's best science journalists in this way and know it will strengthen the science journalism ecosystem in Australia."
