BYD TO HOST FIRST CONSUMER SHOWCASE OF THE LUXURY SEALION 7 EV
TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW AT www.melbournemotorshow.au
BYD's highly anticipated luxury electric SUV, the SEALION 7, will make its first consumer event debut at the Melbourne Motor Show 2025 on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7. This comes after the model's official launch on February 12, marking the first opportunity for the public to experience it up close.
Priced from just $54,990 (excluding on-road costs), the BYD SEALION 7 has already made a significant impact, with 1,000 units sold since its launch. As anticipation builds for its first consumer showcase at the Melbourne Motor Show 2025, BYD Managing Director and Executive Chairman Luke Todd expects a strong response from Melbourne buyers, emphasising its appeal as a luxury alternative to high-end SUVs that often exceed $100,000.
"The SEALION 7 is redefining luxury EV ownership," said Todd. "With its premium design, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional value, it's already drawing buyers who might have previously considered six-figure models. This vehicle proves that world-class performance and sophistication don't have to come with a luxury price tag."
Returning after a 15-year hiatus, the Melbourne Motor Show will take over 25,000 sqm of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), showcasing the latest innovations in both new-energy and petrol vehicles.
About BYD SEALION 7:
Powered by BYD's world-leading Blade Battery technology, the SEALION 7 boasts an acceleration of 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds (for the Performance model). 11kWh AC charging and an impressive driving range of almost 500km (WLTP). Setting a new benchmark for luxury EV affordability, the Premium variant is priced at $54,990*, while the Performance model comes in at $63,990*—offering unmatched value in its class.
BYD's SHARK 6 Hybrid Ute - Crowned NewsCorp's 2024 Car of the Year - will also be featured at the show. Overall, nine new cars will be launched at the event - both electric and petrol - as well as new models from existing manufacturers.
The Melbourne Motor Show will also feature 25 global car manufacturers and over 80 automotive aftermarket brands. There's also Hot Wheels collectables and a Mega Racetrack built for kids, as well as a "Lego - By bricks to the World" automotive zone featuring LEGO cars.
Event organiser Craig Phinn who owns and runs one of Melbourne's largest garage storages for prestige vehicles said that Melbourne lost an institution when the last motor show wrapped in 2009, and its return has motor enthusiasts revved up - pun intended!
The event hours are 9:30 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Sunday and other displays at the show include VIC Emergency Electric Fire Truck & ADF military vehicles, car test drives and hands-on experiences, Motorsport & Performance demonstrations, RED BULL car on display, Off-road and Adventure Builds & campaign rigs, plus much more.
Craig came to Australia from the U.K in 1982 and opened his car storage facilities eight years ago. He now has over 300 cars stored, with some of the rarest in the world including a 1928 Mercedes Roadster.
