Announcement posted by Indeed 01 Apr 2025

A new analysis by job site Indeed has revealed Australia's 25 fastest-growing jobs with competitive salaries. In a bid to secure talent in a tight and increasingly uncertain labour market, Australian employers are ramping up recruitment efforts for well-paying and in-demand roles.

So which jobs are in highest demand nationally—and where are the biggest opportunities in 2025?

Top 25 fastest growing, high-paying roles in Australia (*offering median salaries above $80K and sizable growth in job postings and ranked by the number of job postings starting with the highest.)

HR and people management

Businesses are prioritising operational efficiency and workforce planning which is driving demand for HR leadership and management roles.  Key positions include directors of people & culture, operations associates, and senior leadership roles across business functions.  Notably, job ads for regional managers increased by 25% over 2024, underscoring the need for strong leadership to enhance productivity and drive business strategy.

Education

The education sector continues to face recruitment challenges and is seeking experienced leaders to navigate policy changes, staffing challenges, and community engagement, fuelling a 10% rise in job postings for school principals between 2024 and 2025.

 Tech

AI, cybersecurity, and platform infrastructure remain key drivers of tech hiring, reflecting the growing demand for a highly skilled workforce. Roles such as security engineers and senior engineers are among the most sought-after tech professionals. Between 2024 and 2025 job postings for platform engineers and principal software engineers rose 28% and 16%, respectively.

 Sales and customer service

Hiring in this sector is showing renewed growth, likely due to post-pandemic market shifts and companies refocusing on customer engagement and sales and growth strategies. Job postings for sales managers were up 35% at the start of 2025, while demand for product specialists surged by around 40%. Customer service team leads also saw a 20% uptick.

Legal

The legal sector is also seeing strong levels of recruitment, particularly for support roles. While there was a 31% rise in job postings for lawyers and a 27% rise in postings for senior lawyers across 2024, recruitment across the legal profession remains elevated.

Finance and accounting

Economic fluctuations are driving businesses to strengthen financial oversight, risk management, and strategic planning. Job postings for senior financial accountants rose 19% in 2024, highlighting a continued focus on financial stability.

Sally McKibbin, Career Expert at Indeed said:

"Despite a cooling job market, many opportunities still exist for job seekers—particularly for those with experience in or considering a move into these fast-growing, high-paying roles. Employers filling these positions are not only offering competitive salaries but also long-term career growth, creating valuable opportunities for professionals with the right skills and expertise.

"As businesses continue to face talent shortages, those entering these sectors will have the potential to secure stable, rewarding careers in the years to come."
