Hair loss is no longer just a men's issue. According to Ally Dellabarca hair thinning and brow hair loss are becoming increasingly common among women and it's affecting women across all ages and lifestyles.
Ally Dellabarca is the founder and CEO of RadianceRevolution.com.au, Australia's newest online marketplace for beauty and hair care products.
"Women in their 20s are reaching out in increasing numbers needing help to address hair loss. They are experiencing patchy brows and scalp thinning, and the issues are not just affecting younger women, they are also impacting women in their 50s and 60s," Dellabarca said.
"It's a quiet, emotional struggle for many and one that isn't talked about enough. Women don't know where to turn or who to speak with. I have spoken with so many who are grateful to be able to find a product that works and helps to ease their anxiety and fear."
What's causing the rise in hair and brow loss
Hair loss in women is complex. Dellabarca points to a combination of modern lifestyle stress, hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies and overuse of harsh beauty treatments as key contributors. Chronic stress alone can trigger telogen effluvium, a condition where more hairs than
usual shift into the shedding phase. Meanwhile, hormonal changes due to perimenopause, postpartum recovery, thyroid dysfunction or certain contraceptives can impact follicle function and hair growth cycles.
Modern brow grooming practices such as over-plucking, waxing and chemical treatments combined with exposure to environmental toxins and inflammatory skin conditions have also contributed to a rise in long-term brow thinning.
"This isn't about vanity, it's about identity," Dellabarca said.
"Hair and brows frame how we see ourselves and losing them can have a profound impact on self- esteem and confidence."
There are effective treatments - but choose carefully
While the problem is growing, so are the treatment options. Dellabarca encourages women to explore clinically supported, multi-functional topical treatments designed specifically for scalp and brow health.
These products are typically formulated with anti-inflammatory botanicals, nourishing extracts and active ingredients that stimulate circulation and restore balance to the follicle.
"There are a number of highly effective, clinically proven products available today that help reduce hair shedding and promote regrowth," she said.
"But it's important to steer clear of anything that promises an overnight fix or contains ingredients that haven't been safety-tested."
Dellabarca warns against solutions that market themselves as instant cures or contain harsh chemicals that could further inflame or damage the delicate skin around the scalp or brow area.
"Hair growth is a slow, regenerative process," she explained.
"Be patient, consistent and choose products that support the skin's natural functions, not stress it further."
Dellabarca added that while RadianceRevolution.com.au was experiencing strong demand for hair loss products, stockists including ViveLab Revive Therapy Hair, Scalp and Brow products were increasing supply to meet shopper needs.
Listen to your hair and your body
More than anything, Dellabarca encouraged women to listen to what their hair and brows might be telling them.
"Hair loss can be a symptom of something deeper, stress, hormone shifts, nutritional imbalances or inflammation," she said.
"Don't ignore it and don't be embarrassed to talk about it. There are treatments that work, but early action makes a big difference."
