Who would have thought so many Aussies have hairy toes and ears? Demand for laser hair removal surges
Announcement posted by Invigorate PR 09 Jul 2025
Australians are increasingly embracing laser hair removal for areas by hormonal and skin conditions such as, with toes, stomachs, chins, ears and backs now among frequently treated zones, according to Dr Vivek Eranki.
"Laser hair removal is no longer just for underarms or bikini lines," Dr Eranki said.
"We're seeing a significant rise in people coming in for areas they've never felt comfortable discussing, like their toes, lower back or even their ears."
Dr Vivek Eranki, CEO of Cosmetique, Australia's first accredited cosmetic clinic with a growing list of locations across Australia and an enviable reputation for delivering high quality beauty, cosmetic, injectables and laser hair removal services, has outlined the most popular yet embarrassing places people are getting laser hair removal treatments done.
Toes topping the list of quiet confidence killers
One of the most surprising requests? Excess hair on the legs and feet, often driven by hormonal or genetic factors.
"People are incredibly self-conscious about hair, especially in summer when sandals and open footwear are common," Dr Eranki said.
"It might seem like a small issue, but for many, it has a big impact on their self-esteem. Laser treatment is quick, discreet and offers a long-term solution."
Back hair increasingly common concerns
While back hair has traditionally been a concern for men, Dr Eranki said it is becoming just as common among women.
"Women are increasingly coming in for back treatments, particularly after pregnancy or due to hormonal changes such as PCOS. We are also seeing an increase in the number of young women looking for treatments," he said.
"These aren't cosmetic decisions, they're about comfort and regaining confidence in your body."
Ears and chin highlight hormonal and ageing effects
Ears are another area gaining attention and not just among older men.
"Most men and women won't openly talk about ear hair, but they definitely notice it. Laser hair removal offers a clean and permanent alternative to trimming and it's growing in popularity," Dr Eranki said.
Chin hair, often linked to hormonal changes, is also a major reason women seek laser treatments.
"Chin hair is one of the most emotionally frustrating concerns for many women," Dr Eranki explained.
"It can lead to obsessive plucking, skin damage and embarrassment. Laser treatment provides a long-term solution that's far more effective and confidence-boosting."
More than beauty, it's about freedom and function
Dr Eranki said the growing popularity of laser hair removal in unconventional areas reflects a broader shift in how Australians approach self-care.
"This isn't just about aesthetics. For many people, it's about saving time, reducing irritation and not having to think about a problem that's been bothering them for years," he said.
Over the Counter Supplements
We have a growing trend among women turning to over-the-counter supplements such as biotin to improve hair health.
"Biotin, or vitamin B7, is heavily marketed as a beauty supplement and widely used to strengthen hair and nails," he said.
"However, what many don't realise is that excessive or unnecessary use can sometimes lead to increased hair growth in places like the chin, upper lip, or even the stomach."
He added that while biotin can be beneficial in true deficiency states, its widespread use without medical guidance may cause more harm than good.
"These supplements aren't inherently dangerous, but they do influence how hair grows across the body, not just the scalp," Dr Eranki said.
"If you're noticing changes in hair patterns after starting a supplement, it's important to consider whether it's truly needed."
