Dual displays moving on safety standards for vehicles

Announcement posted by Amtex Electronics 04 Jul 2003

Introducing the new AMT-N5816 from Amtex electronics
When the custom computing kings in the Amtex Electronics labs were asked to develop a dual display prototype for use in the cabinet of moving vehicles, the result was the AMT-N5816.
Featuring a dual PAL display unit incorporating two 15.1 LG-Philips flat panel displays with PAL interface cards on each, the AMT-N5816 is base mounted into a cabinet just 80mm in depth.
The removable front cover facilitates rear mounting of the cabinet, the wiring of the displays and the adjustment of the on-screen display switches.
Each display has an independent 240V ac power supply and each has an on-screen display switch inside the cabinet to adjust brightness, contrast, screen position and other functions.
The prototype developed for the customer was needed to determine if the design would meet the requirements of the system. Eight cameras were run into the two displays for looking at the opening and closing functions of various chutes on an industrial vehicle, critical for ensuring correct safety checks.
The cameras were combined through 2x4 way video splitters which use a quarter of each screen per camera. Added to this was the ability for the driver to zoom in on any singular camera perspective.
The test results predicated a volume order, making the AMT-N5816 yet another customized computing and display system success story for Amtex Electronics. The same system can be designed to fit any environment where a duel display is required.
