Toshiba announced as World Masters Games Technology Partner

Announcement posted by Toshiba IT 25 Mar 2009

The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games Organising Committee today announced Toshiba as the Technology Partner of the world’s largest multi-sport event.

A Gold Partner of the Games, Toshiba will provide much of the technology required to equip the Games Centre and Media Centre at Sydney Olympic Park, which will be the sport and social heart of the biggest event on the city’s calendar this year.

“Toshiba is extremely proud to be named the Technology Partner at the World Masters Games,” Toshiba General Manager Mark Whittard said.

In addition to being the Games Technology Partner, Toshiba is the Games Naming Rights Sponsor for Cycling, thereby strengthening its association with the sport in Australia and overseas. Toshiba’s support of Cycling Australia has resulted in the formation of Team Toshiba, an Australian professional track cycling squad.

“Toshiba has a strong heritage in supporting athletes across the globe, including our nation’s talented cyclist Anna Meares,” Whittard said.

“Power, speed, reliability and performance are all critical to the success of sportsmen and women and through our technology it is these winning attributes that Toshiba will deliver to support the athletes during the event.”

Running 10-18 October, the Games, which are open to everyone rather than just elite athletes, are expected to see 25,000 people from more than 100 countries compete in 28 sports across 72 Sydney venues, including many Olympic sites.

“We are pleased to have a world leader in their field, associated with the world’s largest multi-sport event,” Shane O’Leary, Chief Executive Officer of the Games said. “Toshiba’s support will enhance the experience of our competitors, being serviced by

the latest technology.”
