International hit musical & Juliet coming to Newcastle

Newcastle audiences will experience the global smash hit & Juliet when it arrives at the Civic Theatre in June 2026.

The Olivier Award-winning musical reimagines Shakespeare's most famous heroine, asking: what if Juliet's story didn't end with Romeo? Instead of tragedy, Juliet seizes the chance to take control of her own future in a bold, funny and uplifting retelling.

Featuring a soundtrack of pop megahits including Since U Been Gone, Roar, Baby One More Time and Larger Than Life, & Juliet has been described as "a jukebox musical like no other", blending contemporary chart-toppers with a witty new take on a classic story.

Directed by Lauren Harvey, with choreography by Vanessa Ambrose and musical direction by Dan Wilson, the Very Popular Theatre Company production promises a high-energy theatrical experience filled with humour, heart and show-stopping performances.

"& Juliet is a celebration of second chances, independence and joy," said Producer Hayley Stoddart. "It takes one of theatre's most iconic characters and lets her rewrite her own ending. Backed by the biggest pop songs of the last 30 years. It's a show that makes you laugh, sing and walk away feeling empowered."

& Juliet has played to sold-out seasons on Broadway and the West End, and now brings its fearless remix of love, life and second chances to Newcastle.
