Farmwest Opens State-of-the-Art Vytelle ADVANCE™ IVF Satellite Facility

Announcement posted by Writers Who 21 Sep 2025

Western Australia's most comprehensive genetics and reproductive services provider for beef and dairy, Farmwest, has opened a new ovum pick-up facility near Bunbury, offering cutting-edge IVF technology to Western Australian cattle producers.

BUNBURY, WA - Leading global IVF provider Vytelle is pleased to announce that Farmwest has officially opened its new ovum pick-up (OPU) satellite facility, just 15 minutes from Bunbury, marking a significant milestone in the operation's  journey of serving Western Australia's dairy and beef genetics industry since 2001.

The Vytelle ADVANCE™ technology allows producers to maximise the genetic potential of their best animals while they remain productive in the herd.

"Vytelle is a name that's been resonating in the IVF world for a long time now," said Nick Brasher from Farmwest.

"The biggest strength for us is the lack of extra hormonal drugs that are required for the collections. It just showed that they were thinking a little bit differently to a lot of other IVF companies."

"Our facility operates as a day centre where people bring their animals at allotted time slots," explained Nick.  "They go through the ovum pick-up process and take their cow home the same day."

The facility is designed to handle 20 to 30 donors per day, providing significant capacity for Western Australian producers.

The partnership with Vytelle brings hormone-free IVF technology to Western Australia, offering unprecedented convenience for producers.

"We can actually OPU animals that are already pregnant and young animals," said Nick. "That is really important to us because we don't want to put more burden onto a dairy or beef producer. We know how hard they work."

Farmwest has grown from its origins as Westside AB to become Western Australia's most comprehensive genetics and reproductive services provider.

The family-owned business, started by Rod and Maxine Brasher in 2001, now offers artificial insemination services, herd recording, milk testing laboratory services, veterinary services, and a DeLaval dealership.

"At the end of the day, our core business focus is to make dairy and beef producers more profitable. I think Vytelle's approach to the hormone-free treatments is really critical to that," emphasised Nick.

Producers interested in utilising the new facility can contact Farmwest via phone or email to secure their spot.

The team will work with clients to determine optimal timing for their animals and coordinate all logistics.

"Knowing the data that is behind Vytelle, they're very, very vigilant and diligent with their data collection and that sits really well with us because that data is really important to us as well," said Nick.
