Michael Black, founder and global CEO of Success Tutoring, has been announced as a keynote speaker at the Australian Tutoring Association's (ATA) 5th Annual Conference, to be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Wesley Conference Centre, Sydney.
The conference, themed 'Insights into Private Tutoring for the Promotion of Best Practice', brings together world-leading experts and education innovators to explore trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the global tutoring sector.
Michael Black, one of Australia's youngest education entrepreneurs, has scaled Success Tutoring from a single suburban tutoring centre into one of the world's fastest-growing tutoring franchises, now expanding into international markets including the United States, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and the United Kingdom. Known for his pioneering franchise model and his recently released book, Millionaire Tutor, Black has become a leading voice on the intersection of education, entrepreneurship and student outcomes.
Black's keynote presentation, titled 'Michael Black: From Local Enterprise to Global Franchise', will explore how he built Success Tutoring from his home into an international franchise network. He will share the attitude, skills and passion it takes to grow a business from the ground up and explain why tutoring is no longer just a part-time side gig but a thriving, full-time and highly profitable business opportunity for the next generation of education entrepreneurs.
Black said he was honoured to be part of an agenda that features global thought leaders from UNESCO, East China Normal University and the University of Hong Kong.
"Tutoring is no longer just a supplement to mainstream education, it has become a cornerstone of learning pathways worldwide," Black said.
"I look forward to sharing my insights on how tutoring businesses can balance growth with purpose and how we can continue to deliver meaningful impact for students, families and communities on a global scale."
The ATA conference program will explore industry trends and standards, education and pedagogy and business strategy, offering attendees the chance to engage with topics such as regulation, ethics, accountability, special needs, student wellbeing and the challenges of scaling tutoring businesses.
With a lineup that includes Prof Zhang Wei (ECNU and UNESCO), Prof Mark Bray (UNESCO & University of Hong Kong), ATA CEO Mohan Dhall and other leading education specialists, the event promises to deliver deep insights into the issues, opportunities and innovations shaping the future of tutoring.
Michael Black's keynote will highlight the challenges and opportunities of building a tutoring business in today's fast-changing education environment, drawing on his own journey scaling Success Tutoring from a single centre into a global brand.
"The participation of a range of industry stakeholders such as our international speakers, business leaders and other distinguished speakers is vital to this year's conference. Their insights bring real-world experience, global perspective, entrepreneurial vision and the articulation of accountability to the tutoring sector, helping us set new benchmarks for best practice and ensuring the industry continues to grow with integrity, innovation and impact," Australian Tutoring Association, CEO, Mohan Dhall, said.
The conference runs from 8:30am to 5pm and will be livestreamed for virtual attendees, with all sessions recorded for later viewing. Event and attendance information: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/ata-5th-annual-conference-tickets-1425621705899?aff=oddtdtcreator
