KAIKO FIDGETS TEEN FOUNDER PARTNERS WITH MONASH UNIVERSITY TO LAUNCH CAMPAIGN WITH AMBULANCE VICTORIA
Announcement posted by Markson Sparks! 23 Sep 2025
Kaiko Fidgets - sensory products designed to assist neurodivergent kids, teens and adults co-founded by 19-year-old Kai Seymon who is Autistic and dyslexic - has partnered with researchers at Monash University and Ambulance Victoria to supply every ambulance across the state with a Fidget distraction kit curated to calm and distract patients enroute to hospital.
The initiative has drawn huge support from paramedics, with videos popping up on social media of medics opening their kits.
Kaiko Fidgets already partners with organisations such as Head Space, Schools, and Hospital Networks around Australia to provide them with donated fidgets for distribution.
Says co-founder and Kai's Mum Jo Seymon, "Kaiko Fidgets is so proud to have been part of bringing this incredible Monash research project to life. What began over a year ago as an exploratory conversation with the amazing Associate Professor Kathryn Eastwood — MICA Paramedic and Monash University researcher — has grown into a statewide initiative rolling out 1,100 kits into every ambulance across Victoria."
Says Associate Professor Eastwood, "This collaboration shows how research and business innovation can come together to make a real difference for children and families."
"Quickly gaining a child's trust can be challenging in the pre-hospital setting, which unfortunately means many children don't get adequate pain relief and have a negative experience with the healthcare system," she added.
"By including Kaiko's sensory tools in the kits, paramedics have a range of practical, safe and developmentally appropriate options to ease children's pain and anxiety and improve their overall care and experience. Many in the community have already confirmed it will similarly assist many adults as well!"
Added Jo, "it's been a privilege to work alongside Kathryn, Katrina, Aimee and the Ambulance Victoria team, with Monash University and TLC for Kids supporting the assembly and housing before the roll-out. So much went on behind the scenes — it's wonderful to now see the kits in use, supporting people where it counts most."
What started out as a story of bullying in the classroom turned into a multi-million-dollar company for Kai and Jo, who together have designed and developed over 700 sensory 'fidget' products and now sell over 250,000 products a year from their warehouse in Melbourne. Their company 'Kaiko Fidgets' now averages a growth of 50% year-on-year.
In July, Kai came second in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, where he was the only Australian to make the finals out of 1200 competitors.
Kai and Jo's purposeful products are now also being sold by retailers in the U.S and the U.K. and appear in some schools.
Their products, at their core, are for everyone; they meet so many needs - from pen click replacement to skin picking supports, there are sensory fidgets for that.
