Pet Insurance Australia Launches a Flexible and Fuss-Free Policy

Announcement posted by Pet Insurance Australia 23 Oct 2025

Select & Protect

Australia - Pet Insurance Australia (PIA) today unveiled a ground-breaking pet insurance policy that puts flexibility and simplicity first.

Built from feedback from pet parents nationwide, the policy is crafted to help meet the unique needs of pet households, offering one flexible coverage option — Select & Protect — paired with a seamless claims experience.

"Pet owners told us they wanted choice, transparency, and ease," says Ali Osmani, Founder and Owner of Pet Insurance Australia. "We listened, and created a product that is flexible and fuss-free, allowing families to focus more on their pets, and less on  paperwork."

The policy, Select & Protect, will allow pet parents to build their coverage from the options available based on their needs, including the Booster Care add-on that covers eligible veterinary expenses towards specified dental conditions, behavioural treatments and more holistic care. There is also the option to add Routine Care, a non-insurance benefit to assist with everyday expenses like vaccinations.

"We've also removed those pesky sub-limits," Osmani says.

Key Features Pet Owners Asked For—and PIA Delivered

  • Increased Flexibility - Choose your ideal combination of annual benefit limit ($15,000, $25,000 $ or $35,000), benefit percentage (70%, 80% or 90%), and excess ($0, $100, $300 or $600) to match your budget and needs. $600 annual excess is not available with 70% benefit percentage.

  • One of the Highest Limits on the Market -Annual benefit limit of up to $35,000 to help cover unexpected veterinary costs. Pet owners can now choose their annual benefit limit from $15,000, $25,000 $ or $35,000.

  • No Sub-Limits - A clear, straightforward design with no hidden caps or surprises.

  • Optional Holistic Benefits - Pet owners can choose to add Routine Care (non-insurance benefit) for preventative treatments and everyday costs or Booster Care for specified dental conditions, physical therapies, and behavioural treatments. These benefit limits are in addition to your annual benefit limit.

  • Manage Out-of-Pocket Costs - Set your annual excess to help manage your premium.

  • Seamless GapOnly® Claims11 - Over 1,000 participating vets can process eligible claims in under 10 minutes, allowing customers to pay only the gap at discharge.

  • MyPetPass® 5 Access - Complimentary 24/7 Live Vet 10 consultations and discounts at pet-focused retailers.

"This policy empowers pet owners to choose the cover that truly fits their needs," Osmani says. "We're proud to offer one of the market's most clear and comprehensive policies, helping families get the most out of their pet insurance."

A Policy Designed with Modern Pet Parents in mind
