A VERY NEWY CHRISSY - A HEARTFELT NEWCASTLE CHRISTMAS STORY

Christmas comes early, as a Newcastle-version of Love Actually hits the Civic Playhouse. A homegrown play about love, friendship and finding your way, set in the heart of the Hunter.

This November, Newcastle audiences are invited to experience a brand-new festive theatre production with a Novocastrian twist: A VERY NEWY CHRISSY.

Set in the week before Christmas, the play weaves together humour, heartbreak, and holiday chaos as one Newcastle family - and their community - navigate love, traditions, and change in the lead-up to Christmas Eve.

As Christmas Eve approaches, it will take nothing short of a miracle to bring everyone together. They may not get what they want, but they just might get what they need.

Dive into the gritty chaos of family, tradition, and council antics in this original Newy Chrissy comedy - featuring a pothole that represents more than just a bumpy road!

Now in its second year, the UpStage program brings local shows to local audiences, supporting the creative talent of our region and strengthening the connection between the theatre, our community, and the arts industry. The annual program is showcased in the Civic Theatre's intimate and atmospheric 179-seat venue, the Playhouse.
