Versatile Structures Celebrates 10 Years of Engineering Excellence, Innovation and Industry Leadership

Announcement posted by HULK Media 15 Jan 2026

National award-winning shade and structural design specialist marks a decade of delivering innovative, complex and high-performance commercial and industrial shade structures and billboards across ANZ.

Founded in 2015 by Jamie Howard and Keith Reinke, Versatile Structures has grown from a shared vision and humble beginnings into one of the most trusted names in structural design, fabrication and installation. Built on deep technical expertise, hands-on leadership and an uncompromising commitment to quality, the business has become the supplier of choice across sectors including outdoor advertising, childcare, education, hospitality, retail, construction, councils, parks and sports facilities.

From its earliest days, Versatile Structures has focused on doing things differently—listening first, designing smart solutions and delivering projects that balance safety, aesthetics, performance and budget without compromise.

"Our goal is simple," said Co-founder and Director Jamie Howard. "Design it properly, build it right the first time, and stand behind everything we deliver. Ten years on, that philosophy still drives every project we take on."

In the past decade, Versatile Structures has delivered high-quality structural solutions for a diverse portfolio, including local councils such as Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Logan and Ipswich, as well as commercial and hospitality clients including Pacific Fair, West End Urban Common, the Caboolture Rail Trail, the 18-storey Torre development in Newstead, Munich Brauhaus, KFC and BrewDog.

Jamie Howard brings over 20 years' experience in shade, membrane and steel structures, with a reputation for solving technically complex design challenges. His award-winning designs have earned multiple industry accolades, reinforcing Versatile Structures' position as an innovation leader in the commercial and industrial space.

Co-founder and Director Keith Reinke adds more than 30 years of manufacturing and engineering expertise. A qualified machinist with experience across mining, oil and gas, automotive and heavy manufacturing, Keith has led Versatile Structures' technical problem-solving, WHS and quality control since inception.

"Every project presents a challenge—whether it's scale, compliance or environment," said Reinke. "Our strength lies in understanding the engineering detail and finding practical, reliable solutions that last."

Over the past decade, Versatile Structures has delivered some of the industry's most complex and iconic projects, including:

  • The landmark Newmarket curved billboard, featuring a 9-tonne steel structure with three maintenance levels and 25-meter radius curve, installed 14 metres above ground
  • One of the largest vertically curved digital screens in the Southern Hemisphere for GOA Billboards
  • Earning over 15 Specialised Textiles Association awards for excellence in design, engineering and execution including projects for Dreamworld, Kawana Waters Hotel, San Kai Japanese Restaurant in Brisbane, Australian Zoo, Noosa Botanical Gardens, The Coffee Club and more

In June 2025, Versatile Structures further strengthened its end-to-end capability with the acquisition of Superior Coaters, a Dulux-accredited powder coating facility in Richlands, Brisbane. One of only three Dulux-accredited applicators in Brisbane with long-length coating capabilities up to 14 metres, the facility enables Versatile Structures to deliver fully integrated fabrication and finishing under one leadership team—ensuring scale, compliance and long-term warranties that smaller operators cannot match.

With more than 50 years of combined experience across design, engineering, fabrication, project management, construction, rigging and installation, Versatile Structures operates under a rigorous in-house quality management system based on a "100% right the first time" philosophy. All projects are supported by CM3 safety accreditation, dedicated project management and strict WHS, environmental and quality assurance standards.

Manufacturing exclusively in Australia, the company prioritises Australian-made materials wherever possible and offers a minimum two-year workmanship warranty on all projects. Advanced engineering methods, including Finite Element Analysis, ensure every structure exceeds industry standards for wind, tension and dynamic load performance.

Now entering its second decade, Versatile Structures remains focused on innovation, customer experience and long-term partnerships.

"Our success has always been built on trust," said Howard. "The relationships we've formed over the past ten years are the foundation of our growth, and we're excited about what the next decade will bring."

Beyond the projects and milestones, the past 10 years have also delivered some pretty special life moments within the Versatile family — 16 babies, four weddings, 10 first days of school, six high school starters, and two apprenticeships — one completed and one just getting started. Proof that while we build structures for our clients, we're also building lives, careers and futures together.
