Announcement posted by Jameson & Co 23 Jan 2026

By popular demand, Grace Petrie has added Brisbane and Newcastle to her recently announced Australia and New Zealand tour, running March-April 2026.
The UK singer-songwriter returns for her most extensive visit to the region yet, with headline shows, festival appearances and a special double-bill with acclaimed Australian duo The Maes. The tour will take place in Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, Sydney, Blue Mountains Music Festival, Canberra's National Folk Festival, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sunshine Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne and regional Victoria, including Castlemaine State Festival.
Often cited as a modern heir to the Billy Bragg tradition, Petrie writes songs that are political without being didactic, funny without undercutting their point, and grounded throughout. Her clear, melodic delivery often carries lyrics far tougher than they first appear - a contrast that has become a hallmark of her work. Bragg himself has championed Petrie, inviting her to perform at Glastonbury Festival's Left Field Stage.
Since first touring Australia and New Zealand in 2020, Petrie has built a devoted following for her sharp songwriting, unapologetically left-wing politics and quietly commanding live presence. Her breakout single Black Tie has surpassed 1.2 million streams, becoming a global queer anthem, while her latest album Build Something Better, produced by Frank Turner, debuted at #1 on the UK Folk Chart.
The tour begins in Australia at the Blue Mountains Music Festival on March 13-14 before heading to New Zealand for headline shows at San Fran (Wellington, March 17), A Rolling Stone (Christchurch, March 18) and The Tuning Fork (Auckland, March 19). Australian dates include the National Folk Festival in Canberra (April 3-6) and a rare double-headline performance with The Maes at Castlemaine State Festival (March 28) and Archie's Creek Hotel (March 29), following the artists' acclaimed 2025 UK tour together.
Rounding out the Australian leg of the tour will be headline performances at Majestic Theatre Pomona (Sunshine Coast, March 21), Trinity Sessions (Adelaide, March 22), Altar Bar (Hobart, March 25), Corner Hotel (Melbourne, March 26), Burrinja Cultural Centre (Upwey, March 27), Black Bear Lodge (Brisbane, March 31), Flamingos Live (Newcastle, April 1) and Marrickville Bowlo (Sydney, April 2).
Grace Petrie will be accompanied by longtime collaborator, Ben Moss on fiddle and backing vocals.

GRACE PETRIE BIO
Forged in the political fires of a generation of Tory rule, Grace Petrie is a protest singer for the modern era. Emerging onto the UK folk scene in 2010 with a clutch of unpolished acoustic songs, her razor-sharp lyricism and disarming performance style earned early acclaim. In 2011 The Guardian hailed her a "powerful songwriting voice", and a BBC6Music session with Tom Robinson soon followed. Support slots with Billy Bragg, Robin Ince and Josie Long helped Petrie build a devoted, genre-crossing following spanning folk, punk, queer activism and alternative comedy.
Proudly DIY, she crowdfunded her 2018 breakthrough album Queer As Folk, whose standout single Black Tie became a modern queer anthem. A heartfelt missive to her younger self, the song resonated widely, drawing glowing praise from MOJO, The Observer and The New Yorker, earning a BBC Radio 2 session with Jo Whiley, and leading to high-profile tours with Frank Turner, Hannah Gadsby and appearances on The Guilty Feminist. Black Tie continues to win new fans, surpassing 1.2 million Spotify streams.
Her latest release, Build Something Better, produced by Frank Turner, topped the UK Folk and Download charts and hit the UK Top 30, affirming Petrie as one of Britain's most vital, beloved songwriting voices.
