Sydney 14 May 2009

Lampertz, the market leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of physical security technology for IT systems and data, has announced the Australian launch of two new modular safes which provide high security benefits for mid-sized organisations.

The Lampertz Modular Safe LMS 9.3 provides physical protection for 19“-racks on a surface of only one square meter and users also benefit from complete protection of server racks against physical threats.

The safe’s modular design and connection technology enables installation without any downtime of existing IT-hardware, making the solution uniquely flexible and user-friendly at the same time. In addition, linkages of several LMS 9.3 as well as extensions and changes of locations can also be easily realised at any time.

Lampertz modular safes protect IT systems against fire, extinguishing water, corrosive gases and unauthorised access. A special feature is fire resistance for more than 90 minutes as confirmed by independent test institutes. Also, the safes comply with the temperature and humidity limits within the limit values allowed by hardware manufacturers, of 70C and 85% relative humidity for more than 30 minutes.

Another feature is that the Lampertz modular safe LMS 9.3 is effectively protected against dust and water according to IP56.

Of particular importance is the passed system test of the modular safe as a complete solution and not only as a simple component test of single parts like wall-, ceiling- and door-elements. The modular safe also provides an option for certified protection against unauthorised access in accordance with protection class WK III and even WK IV.

Also announced today, the system-tested Lampertz Basic Safe, the LBS 9.1C, protects the content of its maximum 15 HU for 90 minutes against fire (EN 1363) and also complies to the IT-critical limit values for 10 minutes. Ideal for small and medium-sized companies, the LBS 9.1 C basic safe is air-conditioned at a capacity optionally up to 2.4 KW and can be equipped with all infrastructure options such as the fire-alarm and extinguishing system, monitoring and UPS-system.

In addition to protecting server and storage applications, the safe can also be used as a solution for the protection of local data back-ups and data mirroring.
