SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — While many were preoccupied with holiday shopping to wrap up 2025, the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Sydney, a branch of the Church of Scientology Australia, chose to highlight a different priority: the increasing demand for effective mental health support in New South Wales.
Mental health has become a top health concern across the nation, with stress, anxiety and emotional overwhelm often peaking during the holiday season. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 42.9% of Australians aged 16-85 years have experienced a mental health challenge at some point in their life, with 21.5% facing the challenge in the past year.
In response, the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Sydney launched a holiday mental health outreach initiative as part of the global 75th anniversary celebration of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. The local campaign brought practical mental health tools directly to the public through free stress test stations and mobile demonstration tables placed throughout the city.
Volunteers staffed two free stress-test stations on Castlereagh Street in the heart of the city, with bright red umbrellas providing shades, offering residents hands-on tools for reducing stress.
Additional free stress-test booths were set up at the Fairfield Market, Blacktown Market, and Flemington Market, where visitors could access practical tools for managing stress.
Dianetics book teams stationed outside the Town Hall greeted city visitors with mobile demonstration tables, providing resources on mental health and wellbeing.
"These booths, with their practical focus on mental wellness, generated tremendous interest, particularly during such a stressful time of year," said Dianetics spokesperson Churlya Wurfel. "Dianetics' 75th anniversary is a milestone, and it remains as relevant and impactful today as ever."
Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, by L. Ron Hubbard is the all-time bestselling book on the human mind and a long-standing resource for people seeking relief from stress, anxiety and emotional barriers. Published in 50 languages, Dianetics has helped millions identify and handle the root cause of emotional pain and unwanted behaviour.
As many Australians seek relief from the pressures of the season, Dianetics offers a timely gift—the path to a stronger, calmer, clearer state of mind.
