The World's Only All-Women Wine Travel Community Dedicated to Celebrating Women in Wine Returns to Margaret River — With Its Most Exclusive Tour Yet

The Fabulous Ladies' Wine Society (FLWS) — the world's only community of wine-loving women who create exclusively women-in-wine travel experiences for their members — has announced its most intimate tour to date: a six-day immersion into Western Australia's Margaret River wine region, departing 1-6 August 2026.

With a maximum of just nine guests, the tour is the smallest FLWS has ever offered — and reflects a philosophy that has made the Society one of Australia's most distinctive and sought-after wine travel communities in its 13 years of operation.

Unlike women-only travel companies that include wine as one of many offerings, FLWS experiences are built entirely around wine — and specifically around the women who make it. Every experience on every itinerary is designed around private, personal access to the female winemakers, owners and custodians of the regions visited. It is a community and a concept that, in more than a decade of operation, has no equivalent anywhere in the world.

"We're not a travel company that happens to visit wineries," says FLWS founder Jane Thomson OAM. "Every single tour we run is built around the women behind the wines — the ones who are growing the grapes, making the decisions, and shaping what Australian wine looks like. That focus is what makes us completely different from anything else out there, and I'm incredibly proud of what we've built."

Margaret River: A Region That Rewards Intimacy

The August 2026 Margaret River departure is the latest in a series of FLWS tours that have taken small groups of women deep into Australia's most celebrated wine regions — from the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley to international destinations including Tuscany and Champagne.

Margaret River in winter, Thomson argues, is the region at its most revealing.

"When the summer crowds leave, something shifts in Margaret River," she says. "The people who truly love this place are still there, and they have time for you. The wines taste different when you're drinking them in the cold with the karri forests all around you. It's a completely different experience to what most visitors get — and that's exactly what we're going for."

The nine-guest tour will include private experiences with some of the region's most significant women in wine, including Vanya Cullen of Cullen Wines — widely regarded as one of the most revered winemakers in Australia — alongside Josephine Perry of Dormilona, Wendy Stimpson of Passel Estate, and Ulrika Larsson of Clairault-Streicker, winner of the Australian Women in Wine Cellar Door Person of the Year award.

"These women don't do this for just anyone," says Thomson. "They've said yes to us because they want to meet our guests, share their stories, and be part of something that genuinely celebrates what they do. The access we're able to offer is something you simply cannot find anywhere else."

13 years of Championing Women in Wine

Founded more than a decade ago, The Fabulous Ladies' Wine Society has grown from a community of wine-loving women into a nationally recognised platform that spans events, membership, and travel. Thomson — who also founded Australian Women in Wine and was awarded an OAM for her services to the wine industry — has spent years building relationships with the women behind Australia's most celebrated labels, relationships that form the foundation of every FLWS tour.

"What started as a desire to connect women who love wine has become something I'm genuinely proud of," says Thomson. "We've introduced thousands of women to the people and places behind the wines they love. And we've created a space where those winemakers — who work incredibly hard, often without the recognition they deserve — get to tell their own stories to an audience that is completely, enthusiastically there for it."
