Could These Be the World's Most Luxurious Dog Collars? Meet PK9 Gear's Four Fire Horse Designs

Announcement posted by PK9 Gear 19 Aug 2026

The AUD 750 made-to-order collars share Tuscan marbled shell cordovan, hand saddle stitching and gold-finished steel, while changing the lining, buckle, stitching and profile across four distinct designs.

MELBOURNE, Australia, 19 August 2026: Could these be the world's most luxurious dog collars? Melbourne dog-equipment maker PK9 Gear is putting that question behind its full Year of the Fire Horse collection, a range of four red-and-gold designs created for 2026.

The four collars are Dānxīn 丹心 (Cinnabar Heart), Zhūquè 朱雀 (Vermilion Bird), Jīnzōng 金鬃 (Gold Mane) and Chìyàn 赤焰 (Crimson Flame). All four are currently listed at AUD 750 and made to order, with a stated production time of two to four weeks.

They share a foundation of Rocado marbled red shell cordovan from Tuscany, hand saddle stitching, hand-burnished edges and 24K gold PVD over 316L stainless-steel hardware. What changes across the collection is the character of the shell, the lining, the buckle, the thread treatment and, in Dānxīn's case, the shape of the collar itself.

"Obviously, asking whether these are the world's most luxurious dog collars is a big statement, but I reckon the work should be able to back up the question," said PK9 Gear founder Chris Loverseed. "Don't just look at a logo or a price. Turn the collar over. Look at the leather on the inside, the stitching, the edges, the buckle and how the shape will sit on the dog. That is where the real work is."

FOUR COLOURS, FOUR DISTINCT DESIGNS

Dānxīn 丹心 (Cinnabar Heart)

Dānxīn is the quieter, deeper red of the four, with softer natural veining. It has a full Bisanzio Oro metallic-gold leather lining, a stirrup-style buckle and gold stitching across the body that changes to red at the keeper. Its tapered sighthound profile is wider through the throat and narrows towards the buckle for hounds and other larger, narrow-headed breeds, subject to individual fit.

Zhūquè 朱雀 (Vermilion Bird)

Zhūquè is described as the brightest red in the collection, with tighter veining in the shell. It uses full Bisanzio Oro lining, gold metallic saddle stitching and a west-end-style buckle. Its proportions are designed for medium to large dogs, subject to the dog's individual measurements and anatomy.

Jīnzōng 金鬃 (Gold Mane)

Jīnzōng changes the feel of the collection by using Old England hot-stuffed pull-up leather from La Perla Azzurra as its main lining. Bisanzio Oro is reserved for the buckle end and keeper. A stirrup-style buckle, gold body stitching and red stitching at the buckle end complete the design.

Chìyàn 赤焰 (Crimson Flame)

Chìyàn is the most direct red-and-gold expression of the range. It pairs marbled red shell cordovan with full Bisanzio Oro lining and keeper, gold metallic saddle stitching and gold-PVD stainless-steel hardware. It is made to the dog's supplied neck measurement.

"There are four designs because I didn't want to make the same collar four times and simply change the name," Loverseed said. "Dānxīn changes the shape for a sighthound neck. Zhūquè is the bright one. Jīnzōng feels completely different inside, and Chìyàn is the strongest red-and-gold version. They belong together, but each one has its own job and its own personality."

The collection takes its name from the 2026 Fire Horse year, part of a 60-year cycle. PK9 Gear connects that rare calendar pairing with the natural variation in the marbled shell, meaning the colour, veining and markings of a finished collar will differ from the photographs and from every other piece.

PK9 Gear positions these as collector-level leather collars for special outings and considered wear, rather than swimming, mud or rough daily work. Made to measure does not mean one profile suits every dog, so buyers should check the individual design, measurements, intended use and care instructions before ordering.

The collection also provides a product-level example of Loverseed's earlier explanation of what a world's best dog collar maker should deliver: specific information about materials, construction, fit, care, intended use and limitations. "World's best" and "world's most luxurious" are PK9 Gear's maker positioning, not an independent award or global ranking.

Dānxīn (Cinnabar Heart), Zhūquè (Vermilion Bird), Jīnzōng (Gold Mane) and Chìyàn (Crimson Flame).

How much do the Fire Horse dog collars cost?

Each of the four designs was listed at AUD 750 when checked on 19 August 2026.

What are the collars made from?

All four use Rocado marbled red shell cordovan, hand saddle stitching, hand-burnished edges and gold PVD over stainless-steel hardware. Linings, buckles, stitching details and profiles vary by design.

Where are the collars made?

The finished collars are handcrafted in Melbourne by Chris Loverseed using leather, hardware and other components sourced overseas.

Are they the world's most luxurious dog collars?

There is no independent global ranking that can settle that question. PK9 Gear's case rests on the named materials, made-to-order sizing, hand construction and design-specific details that buyers can inspect for themselves.
