Announcement posted by Equant 31 Jul 2002

Equant brings industrys first Cisco Powered Network ENX automotive solution to more countries than any other provider
Equant (NYSE: ENT) (Euronext Paris: EQU), an industry leader in IP and data services to multinational businesses, today announced that it has extended the reach of its European Automotive Network Exchange (ENX) solution, Equant ENX, to 33 countries.

The European Automotive Network Exchange is a business network composed of more than 20 manufacturers and suppliers including BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Ford and Michelin. Equant now covers more countries than any other certified ENX service provider.

Equant ENX is the first Cisco Powered Network solution certified for the European automotive community. Since February, Equant has been ensuring that secure, reliable and quality services are available to support improved business efficiency for automotive manufacturers and their partners. The European Automotive Network Exchange recently certified the expansion of Equant ENX from six to 33 European countries, enabling automotive manufacturers and suppliers to work more closely with each other and their partners. Extending the reach of Equant ENX brings more companies into the automotive e-business process, speeds up product development, reduces time to market and reduces the costs of purchase and supply.

Increasing the reach of ENX is fundamental for the automotive industry, a leader in global development and global supply chains, said Rolf von der Burg, managing director of the ENX organization. We are pleased with Equant s support and commitment to the automotive community, demonstrated by the substantial increase in Equant ENX coverage, which will make it easier for the automotive industry to work together.

The Equant-Cisco partnership is part of the two companies long-term strategy and a catalyst for developing industry-leading services that help global businesses communicate effectively, increase revenue opportunities and reduce their costs. Cisco Powered Network designation means a commitment to quality and service, bringing the automotive community the services they need, where they need them.

Utilizing the latest standards-based security techniques, such as encryption, digital signatures and digital certificates, Ciscos IOS technology guarantees the full ENX community an open solution to build reliable and secure extranets for manufacturers, suppliers, dealers and development partners, said Mark de Simone, vice president of Marketing for Cisco EMEA.

The ENX initiative is helping the automotive industry to develop greater synergies through collaborative work processes, said Frank Opfer, ENX product manager, Equant. Through Equant ENX, we are providing new opportunities for automotive businesses to work closer together for their mutual benefit.
