Gold Coast founder launches AI platform designed to help people rehearse who they want to become

Announcement posted by Newstate.app 08 Sep 2026

NEW STATE uses artificial intelligence to turn who a person wants to become into a deeply personalised first-person experience they can rehearse in everyday life.

GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA — 8 September 2026 — A new Australian AI platform is taking a different approach to personal development by asking users not simply what they want to achieve, but who they intend to become.

Called NEW STATE, the Gold Coast-founded platform uses AI to conduct a personalised identity interview before creating first-person rehearsals based on the individual the user wants to become and the everyday life they want to be living.

Rather than stopping at broad goals such as "I want to be more confident" or "I want to be successful," NEW STATE explores what those changes would actually look like in ordinary life.

The AI asks increasingly specific questions about areas such as work, relationships, confidence, finances, habits, routines and lifestyle.

One question captures the approach:

"Imagine this has been your life for several years. What does an ordinary Wednesday morning look like?"

The answers are used to create an Identity Blueprint and personalised first-person rehearsals exploring how that version of the user thinks, makes decisions, speaks, responds to situations and moves through everyday life.

From setting goals to rehearsing identity

NEW STATE founder Eden Doidge says the idea grew from years of exploring personal development, identity, mental rehearsal and the psychology of change.

"I kept noticing the same idea appearing in very different places. Earlier writers such as Neville Goddard talked about assuming the state of the person you wanted to be. Modern personal-development teachers talk about acting from a new identity. Athletes mentally rehearse performance, and contemporary psychology has explored how repeated experiences and behaviours can become increasingly familiar."

For Doidge, that raised a practical question.

"We spend so much time defining the goal — the career, confidence, relationship, income or life we want. But I became fascinated by the person on the other side of that goal. How do they think? How do they make decisions? How do they respond when things go wrong? What does an ordinary Tuesday look like when that life is simply normal?"

The emergence of generative AI offered a way to explore that question at a level of personalisation that had previously been difficult.

"I realised AI could do more than generate affirmations or motivational content. It could actually interview someone deeply enough to understand the identity they want to inhabit, then turn that into a detailed first-person experience they could rehearse."

That became the idea behind NEW STATE and what Doidge calls identity rehearsal.

It is not designed as an affirmation generator, vision board or generic AI life coach. Instead, AI first learns about the user's intended identity and circumstances before generating personalised material for repeated practice.

Two approaches to the same destination

The platform offers two distinct rehearsal approaches.

Live From It allows users to experience their desired identity and circumstances from the perspective that they are already established, familiar and ordinary.

Bridge Into It is designed for people who find that approach difficult to believe. It begins with what feels credible in the present and creates a rehearsal around movement, possibility and increasing expectancy.

Doidge says the distinction was important because forcing people to repeat language they do not believe can defeat the purpose of the exercise.

"Not everyone can jump straight into imagining that their desired life is already completely normal. Bridge Into It lets someone start where they genuinely are. The destination can be the same, but the way they rehearse getting there doesn't have to be."

AI makes personalisation possible

While mental rehearsal and identity-focused approaches have existed in various forms for decades, NEW STATE uses generative AI to make the experience highly individual.

Two people who both select "confidence," for example, may have completely different ideas about what confidence means in their lives.

For one it might mean speaking comfortably in meetings. For another it might involve relationships, decision-making, starting a business or simply feeling less hesitant in everyday situations.

NEW STATE's interview is designed to uncover those differences before creating the rehearsal.

The service has launched online at newstate.app for US$19 as a one-time purchase, rather than a subscription.

Customers receive 30 days of AI-powered creation and refinement, followed by ongoing access to the New State material they have created.

"The idea is remarkably simple," Doidge said. "Instead of only rehearsing what you want, rehearse the person you are becoming."
